Summary / Role Purpose
The R&D Engineer II joins the Release Management Unit and is responsible for the development of Ansys Licensing as a Service (LaaS), a high-availability API service hosted on Azure. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will use technical and problem-solving skills to collaborate with the team to tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.
Licensing as a Service is Ansys’s platform for a web-hosted licensing solution that is quickly growing and striving to reach its potential. LaaS hosts multiple license models each with their own requirements and use case. It is a business-critical service that requires rigorous and thorough testing to ensure it meets, and continues to meet, the stringent requirements of its growing user base.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Performs development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
Understands and employs best practices
Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
Works under the general supervision of a development manager
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS
Strong computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON schemas, sustainable development practices, requirements and needs of maintaining a business-critical service
Technical knowledge and commercial experience with developing a distributed API service written in TypeScript using Node.JS as a framework in an Agile development environment
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Technical knowledge and commercial experience with OpenAPI specifications, Azure tools and resources (Bicep, Application Insights, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes, etc.), Node.js
Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial organization
Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
