Job Description Summary The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer - Renewables – Offshore Wind will work closely with Offshore Wind Sourcing, Design Engineering, Product Service Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management and Installation team, and the Global Supplier Quality team on all activity required to effectively support supplier quality requirements for assigned wind turbine components and suppliers. Focus will be on offshore towers.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
As the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer – Offshore Wind, you will:
Develop and lead Qualification plans, process / product verification efforts, quality system audits and supplier surveillance program
Lead process improvement efforts using GE Renewable Energy Quality systems, tools and procedures to drive process quality improvements and leverage statistical tools for evaluation of process capability on critical-to-quality (CTQ) part / component characteristics
Participate in supplier design / engineering review and approval process and internal NPI (New Product Introduction) process
Assure quality through approval of Manufacturing Process Plan (MPP), Product and Process Quality Plan (PQP), product quality reviews, verification of quality documentation, monitoring of compliance and qualification completions / closures
Address Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction based on customer, assembly shop and site feedback and incorporate key customer critical-to-quality parameters in supplier processes
Ensure quality consistency and reduce variation in processes through First Piece Qualification, pilot lot approvals (when required) and with ongoing serial production and Production Part Approval.
Coordinate initiation and resolution of Supplier Deviation Requests (SDR’s), material substitutions and quality control reviews on non-conformances at supplier facility and/or wind farm sites
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) for process improvement, and preventive / corrective action as required
Audit to ensure compliance
Support read-across global activities, welding and NDT disciplines.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelors Degree in a Technical field from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 10 years of quality process experience
English language skills
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
Ability and willingness to travel 50% as required
Desired Characteristics
Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of Wind Offshore market and mainly Offshore Wind Towers manufacturing and Quality related topics.
Ability to make interface with the customer representative onsite
Experience working with heavy fabricated and Wind components and/or related processes Experience working with suppliers.
Quality training and/or related work experience (ISO 9001). Experience with quality assurance tools: Process Capability, Measurement Systems Analysis, Error Proofing, Statistical Process Control
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; RCA methods, 8D, FMEA
Auditing experience
Ability to work in a cross-functional and global team environment
Written and verbal communication skills.
Related Wind sourcing and/or manufacturing experience
Lean Six Sigma trained and certified or equivalent quality training and certification. Experience on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
Demonstrated technical aptitude and a passion for quality
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
Certified welding engineer and NDT seasoned experience
